How do we book a Science Squad workshop?
Booking is simple. Contact our team with your preferred date, school location and year groups you would like to take part, by completing the enquiry form.
We will confirm availability and help you plan a workshop schedule that works for your school.
How far in advance should we book?
We recommend booking as early as possible to secure your preferred dates.
Schools can book several weeks or months in advance, particularly during busy periods in the school calendar. Science Week and end of school year are always busy periods.
Can multiple classes take part during the day?
Yes. Schools can choose to run several workshop sessions throughout the day so that multiple classes or year groups can take part.
This allows schools to maximise the value of a single visit.
Which year groups are the workshops suitable for?
Science Squad workshops are designed primarily for primary school pupils, with sessions adapted to suit different age groups.
If you’re unsure which workshop would best suit your pupils, our team will be happy to advise.
How many pupils can take part?

THE VISIT
What space do you need in school?
Workshops can usually take place in a school hall or larger learning space. A classroom will be too small as it won’t allow enough space for the group to enjoy it.
When confirming your booking we will provide guidance on the space required for the workshop you have chosen.
Do we need to provide any equipment?
No. Our Squad Scientists bring all the specialist equipment and materials needed for the workshop.
Schools simply need to provide a suitable space and access to the pupils taking part. A school hall is ideal.
How long does a workshop last?
Session length can vary depending on the workshop and age group.
Typically, sessions last between 45 and 60 minutes, allowing multiple sessions to run across the school day.
Will pupils be actively involved?
Science Squad workshops are designed to be highly engaging. Pupils are encouraged to think, predict outcomes and respond to demonstrations, and in some sessions pupils may also assist with experiments.
Is the workshop suitable for different ability levels?
Our Squad Scientists adapt the delivery of workshops to suit the age and ability of the pupils taking part, ensuring the experience is accessible, engaging and educational for all learners.
Do teachers need to stay during the workshop?
Yes, teachers should remain with their class during the session as part of normal school supervision and behaviour management if needed.

Is the equipment safe for school use?
All demonstrations and equipment used during Science Squad workshops are designed to be suitable for school environments and are handled by trained Squad Scientists. We conduct regular risk assessments which will be provided for your information.
Do Squad Scientists hold appropriate safeguarding checks?
Yes. All Squad Scientists hold enhanced DBS checks and follow safeguarding procedures when working in schools.
A copy of which will be presented on request.

Do you travel to schools across the UK?
Science Squad workshops can be delivered to schools across the UK.
Travel arrangements will be discussed when confirming your booking.
How much does a Science Squad visit cost?
Pricing depends on factors such as location, number of sessions and the workshop chosen.
Please contact our team and we will be happy to provide a quote for your school.
How do we pay for our Science Squad visit?
Once the day is complete, the office will be in touch with an invoice, based on the agreed quote. Payment terms will be detailed on the document.
